Nutraceutical-based research
1. Mangosteen skin
Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is a species of fruit plant believed to be originated from tropical Asia. Researches done on the fruit of this plant had shown that the skin is very rich in phytochemical compounds such as prenylated xanthones. These xanthones have good anti-inflammatory, anti-cancers and anti-bacterial properties. Moreover, the skin was also found to be rich in anti-oxidants and hence has potential to be develop as daily supplement for human consumption.

Several types of formulations are currently under study by using the dried mangosteen skin and its water extract. Examples are tablets, lipstick and solid soap. They are also currently undergoing extensive tests on customer acceptance and sensitization.
