Perlis, 27 - 28 Feb 2010 - The Malaysian Institute of Pharmaceuticals and Nutraceuticals (IPharm) has recently represented MOSTI Biotech Cluster at the 'Karnival Malaysia Inovatif Zon Utara' which was launched by Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, Raja Muda Perlis at the Dewan Wawasan 2020, situated at Kangar, Perlis.
During the prestigious event, the minister of MOSTI, Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Maximus Ongkili has visited IPharm's booth. 7 exhibits were displayed and part of the exhibits were materials from IPharm's collaboration projects with Success Nexus Sdn. Bhd., Agro Dynamic Sdn. Bhd. and Koperasi Wanita Pendang Kedah. This carnival will be organized throughout the whole year of 2010 to laud the mission of 'Malaysia Inovatif 2010', gearing our country's economy through innovation.

| Symposium on Medicinal Chemistry

Penang, 8 Feb 2010 – The Royal Society of Chemistry, in collaboration with IPharm and Universiti Sains Malaysia, with support from the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur had successfully organized a symposium on Medicinal Chemistry to bring together researchers from the United Kingdom and the region to discuss current progress and challenges within the field of medicine & chemistry.
The two-day symposium was held at Vistana Hotel, Penang on 28th and 29th of January. The symposium featured expert speakers from both the pharmaceutical industry and leading academic research institutes. The scientific programme included discussion on approaches for treatment of cancer, obesity, dengue, TB, influenza and inflammatory pain, as well as the application of techniques such as diversity orientated synthesis, fragment based drug discovery and the use of biophysical techniques in medicinal chemistry. There was a round-table discussion as well towards the end of the symposium for local researchers to enable further interaction with researchers from the United Kingdom and to explore the possibility of establishing collaboration projects which could be mutually beneficial to both parties.
